Pen & Ink
Pen and Ink Prints of Somers Point by Kathleen Arleth
11×14 overall size with a black mat.
In the early 1980’s the two iconic bars of Somers Point – Bay Shores and Tony Marts – were on the verge of being demolished and with them, many memories of entertainers from the 50’s through the 70’s. Early Rock and Roll entertainers like, Bill Haley and the Comets, Levon and the Hawks -that became The Band after discovered by Bob Dylan – and so many others. This was the artist’s inspiration for the Pen and Ink Somers Point Series that continues to this day. This collection includes not only the taverns and bars that are gone but also those great bars that remain. It also includes Smitty’s aka The Clam Bar, the Old “Rickety Rackety” Bridge to Longport and houses from the early 1900’s that are still standing and several others. The pen and inks make great collections and bring back great memories.
